Why we choose natural fibres
Cotton, jute and macramé cord — the honest, renewable materials behind everything we make, and why they age so beautifully.
We get asked a lot why we work almost entirely with cotton, jute and macramé cord. The short answer: they are honest materials.
Natural fibres are renewable. Cotton and jute are grown, not extracted. They are breathable, they take dye gently, and at the very end of a long, well-loved life they return to the earth far more kindly than synthetics.
They also age with grace. A jute basket softens at the edges. Cotton mellows into a lived-in warmth. Rather than looking tired, our pieces tend to look more themselves with time — which is exactly what you want from something meant to be kept, not replaced.
We will be honest about where we are still learning. We use some plastic in shipping to protect delicate, handmade pieces in transit, and we are actively working to reduce and replace it. We would rather tell you the truth than make a claim we cannot keep.
Choosing natural fibres is a small decision repeated thousands of times — every cord, every basket, every knot. We think those small decisions add up to a gentler way of making.
